Meet Our Staff
Director
Jeff Gaiser
I first made contact with the previous director, Cathy Haney, at the Museum researching the house I bought here in town. It turns out we did not find any information, but it was a lot of fun looking through all of the research materials that were available.

I spent the first few years as a volunteer working on a system to create and store digital images of our collection. Over several years our staff has fine-tuned our system, until now it is better than some systems in larger museums.

I am proud to be the Director of this Museum and will continue to improve it so our community will be proud of the Clay County Museum.
Curator of Artifacts
Diana Shaner
I am a native of Clay County, Kansas and now the Curator of Artifacts for the Clay County Museum. I have been married over 50 years to the same man and we have 2 daughters, one son, 4 grandsons, one granddaughter, one great grandson, and one great granddaughter.

I was hired at the Clay County Museum to clean, sweep floors, and put things away. This soon became doing inventory which was working with a laptop, a small camera, and a kitchen cart for a desk.

While I had some knowledge of Clay County, working for the museum has given me a lot more knowledge as well as a wealth of new experiences. Everyday is another day of learning or sharing things about Clay County.

In other words there is NO such thing as a dull moment or if there is, it doesn't last long!
Curator of Documents
Grace Kensa
I was born and raised in Clay Center. I graduated from CCCHS in 2017 and then I went to Kansas State University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Studies.
My last semester at K-State I was lucky enough to be able to complete my final internship for my degree, here at the museum. I enjoyed working in my hometown and learning a lot of history that I had never heard before.
After my graduation, I was hired on as the Curator of Documents. I love learning more about my community and finding new ways to share Clay County's history with visitors.
